FREIGHT VOLUME DECLINES
Freight volumes are in their 4th year of decline and this year\'s peak season will be very similar to last year. Less demand and need for lower inventory levels, with an ongoing recession is the main cause.
This also is reflected in the low volumes at the Port of Long Beach/Los Angeles the 2 highest volume ports in the US.
If this trend continues, there is serious concern about the financial stability of ocean freight carriers.
